I think the factory mechanical pumps to be VERY reliable.
If you can find a repair kit, that would be my first choice.

If you have to go with an electric pump, make sure you provide the SU carbs (if equipped) with no more than 2.5 psi or so.
Me? I'd avoid an electric pump for a stock engine.
