Bosch spark plug split 200

A friend's son's 240 "banged and started making a popping noise." He drove it home a few miles.

The spark-plug had split at the seam leaving the threaded piece in the head and the upper piece dangling from the plug wire.

Removal of the threaded piece from the head with an easyout was not difficult as it wasn't tight.

Factory defect or Perhaps the loose plug was loose enough that it moved each time it fired?
