Hole in the rear muffler and a rough idle 900

I have a very good mechanic, and two years ago adjusted my valve shims until there is barely any vibration from the engine at idle, even with gear in D and air cond compressor running.
About two months ago, my rear muffler rusted thru. Enjoying the somewhat bassy sound, I delayed getting it fixed :)
Meanwhile, the idle was starting to get rough again, and maybe it's time for another valve adjustment.
I decided to get the muffler replaced before adjusting the valve. With the new muffler, the idle is back to super smooth. Never though they were related.

The joys of owning a 940...light pressure Turbo :)
