Larger wheel fitment 65' 1800S 1800

Considering upgrading the wheels on my 65' 1800S and would like to go with a set of 17x7's with 205/50 rubber. The backspace on the wheels i am looking at is 4". Anyone have any experience with such size wheels and tires on a 1800 coupe? The car is on sagging older springs at the moment but will have 1 1/2" -2" drop stiffer springs in the future.
