Header Pipe and Catalytic Converter W/ EGR and W/O EGR Differences 900 1995

I am replacing the oil pan, rear crank seal and front transmission seal, and some other parts, in a 1995 940 with EGR (CA car originally) I bought last Fall.

Someone has replaced the exhaust system by welding all the joints from the header pipe back and I'd like to replace the exhaust system while I have the header pipe loose. It looks like I will be cutting the header pipe off to remove it so I can replace the rusty oil pan.

The catalytic converter has the sensor on the header pipe (front) side.

I have 2 each 740 and 940 parts cars but all are w/o EGR. What are the differences between the header pipe and catalytic converter with and without EGR? I'd like to use my old parts without changing the exhaust manifold if possible. We don't have emissions inspections here in MN so I'm not real concerned about that.
