Later model M40, incorrect tail housing angle for speedometer cable 444-544

Swapped a newer model M40 into my '63 544 but the tail housing has a different angle for the speedometer cable. The old housing (part 380127) fits the angle of the cable but the newer housing 380448 does not.

I've read that the tail housings are NOT interchangeable.

Any ideas on how to make the speedocable fit or other ideas?
