Confused about fuel pumps 900 1995

Two weeks ago I bought a 940 and when I looked under the vehicle I noticed how it has a main pump and I did some research and now I am curious to why that I have two fuel pumps. Also the engine that is in the 940 doesn't match up to what the VIN says.
