Opinions on need for parking-emergency brake 700 1991

I'm replacing my rear brakes on my 740 (non-ABS, ATE). I've never used
the parking brake, and everything is rusted up(Northeast Ohio). I have
auto trans, so do not need it for parking, but wondering what are the
chances master cylinder will go or rubber hose burst? Most or all of the
metal lines have been replaced. I figure now is the time to fix the
emergency brakes if I'm ever going to do it. I will have to get at least
one part from a southwest junkyard or where there is no rust, the part that
the cable attaches to, otherwise other parts are available new.
