the old dog dish 240 hubcap trick

On a 1975 and until whenever they changed ('78? maybe)--the wheel had 5 spring clips installed into small holes between the lugs (I have 3 of those temporarily on my '93 245 V8 project)--that's what those "dog dish" caps actually snapped on to.
I have seen the small vent 14" rims made without those small holes so maybe those have points stamped into the wheel to catch true "dog dish" caps (?).
I looked at the hubs on the '93 -- they should accommodate the 5 piece caps.
If you want to see a different look--go to my Craigslist ad (NY metro region--search 1990 Volvo 244). I put 14" full caps from my mom's old Chrysler New Yorker--mid/late 80's car. I think they look great on the White 244. -- Dave
