valve shim diameter 200 1982

I bought some valve shims online for my B23E engine. I installed one of them yesterday and then realized that its diameter was less than the one previously installed. The shim will move around in its holding space to a limited degree. The shim it replaced filled the space and was difficult to remove because of that.

I am envisioning it moving every time it is contacted by the cam and ultimately getting thrown out with resultant serious damage to the engine. Am I worrying unnecessarily or should I get it out of there.

Bob
