deer strike 444-544

I collided with a deer a couple of weeks ago. I'm grateful that none of us (inside the car) were injured. I'm sorry I can't say the same for the deer.

I'm starting the task of arranging for repairs. Given the forces involved, the damage is much less than I would have suspected (though still rather substantial).

In short, I'm most in need of a front center section (I believe part #663219). Not surprisingly, very difficult to find. I'm told that the PV 544 analog (part #663199) can be adapted to fit.

If anyone knows of a clean Duett / P210 nose that might be available, please do let me know. If anyone has direct experience with adapting part #663199 or has one of those available, I'd appreciate any leads.

I do have some very fine folks looking for me (Joe Lazenby, VP-Autoparts, etc) so it's possible they will turn something up.

BTW - I did discover something by accident through this ordeal, likely helpful to 544 owners as well. I did not have the bonnet (hood) latched because it really doesn't need to be. The force of the collision drove the front center section (the part referenced above) back but the hood lifted up and clear of the cowl. The hood got through completely unscathed. Had it been latched, at minimum there would be substantial damage to the hood, and possibly the cowl also.

As always, any help sincerely appreciated.
