Strut Fit Query 700 1989

It turns out that my new Bilstein strut inserts from IPD are too long for the housings on my 745T by about 1/2". I see from previous posts that I'm not the first to encounter this issue and that others have gone ahead and installed them with no ill effect. I'm inclined to do the same, but I wanted to double check and see if anyone had any cautionary advice before I proceed.
