Please explain 200 1993

E85 is 85% ethanol. 15% gasoline mix. I guess.

Ethanol burns in such a way as to reduce NOx, yet raise C0, C02.

An i-net troll suggest as much as a 30% NOx reduction. Also Ethanol sort of acts like a high octane gasoline, without the gasoline. It burns cooler as so aforementioned, yet burns more completely if fuel / ratios through RPM range are okee-dokee.

A quick i-net search may help to provide you answers.

Though a well maintained Volvo 240 engine will all the emissions controls, and you can delete the catalytic converter, yet must have the oxygen sensor, AMM / MAF, and all other engine control fiddly bits in fine fettle. As well as the wires, plugs, rotor, cap, and such.

But I'm pleased as is with factory stock on the aged industrial wee beasties.

Lest you pull it out and slap a Weber carb on it with the non-EGR EZK116 makin' spark, yet complaining for other inputs.

Also, 'cept the materials comprising fuel delivery in Volvo 240 are not meant for prolonged ethanol as it is deleterious to the now rather primitive plastics and polymers in injected 240. The intake and main fuel pump may balk.

As would the low-pressure rubber fuel line. And we should have replaced these all already.

As for the black nylon high pressure fuel lines, I can't say, yet these do age. In the heat of the engine bay more so ...
