Engine knock 200 1984

Those sounds can be tough to diagnosis. Some ideas:

1. Don't remember at the moment, do the 84's have the b230f engines? Later model 240's with the b230f engines are prone to piston slap. Noisy but not usually fatal to the engine. If the noise lessens or goes away when the engine is warm it is most likely piston slap.
2. Fuel injector noise. More of a loud ticking noise. Try cleaning or replacing them.
3. Pinging can also be caused by using low octane fuel or an out of tune engine. Suggest you try premium gas and a bottle of Techron or similar and see if it improves. Tune up if needed.
