Intermittent clunk at highway speeds S90-V90 1997

My car (V90) has developed a speed loss clunk at highway speeds. E or S settings make no difference. Same with dropping it down to 3rd. No change in the tach reading. Drive local roads, no issue at all.

It is a "hard" moment like stabbing the brakes, but only a moment. No codes unless there is a pre-code, which we have not scanned yet. Had the thought of fuel-related but I would have seen an rpm drop. No thinking a controller connection to the trans is a possibility.

It has been very intermittent- drove a thousand miles out and back to Canada with no issues at all. Yesterday is started at the top of a hill on the highway, continued randomly until I pulled off for 15 miles of local road driving and then did it again as soon as I hit 60 mph to cross a bridge. Back to local roads, perfect.

Thoughts?
