ISO head for 93 945 base 900 1993

Looks like I'm gonna need some head work on my '93 940 base wagon - one spark plug is hung tighter than a tick, one stripped its threads on the way out. I put it back in & the car still runs pretty well, but .....

What are your experiences with used heads for the redblock? The only machine shop here won't work on mine (idiots).

Or should I just bite the bullet and get one from FCP or IPD? Or is there a better (cheaper) source?
