Whistling 240- second post

Friends at the Brickboard:
I recently posted a question concerning a whistling noise that I get during the Winter from my '91 240 Sedan. It has done it for quite a number of years, and I've thought it must be a simple vacuum leak. But this Spring it has changed and is doing it at less cold temps as well. And it used to be a single whistle but is now more of a chord of several whistles. My original question said that it happens on acceleration, but when driving after my posting I've realized that it's actually on deceleration when I hear it most often. I've had one answer from a knowledgeable person suggesting that it's the drive line center support bearing going dry. Would others concur with that diagnosis?
