Where does the white wire go?? tranmission solenoid white wire ends where? 200

Car facts:
1993 Volvo 245 wagon / automatic

Volvo people need your advice. My husband is having to replace the solenoid down by the transmission. We know there is a white wire that is most likely broken and needing to be replaced that goes up into the gear box. Is this white wire attached to any specific part? Or part of a specific part. Or just a connection wire. Also length and maybe gauge of wire if you know before he tears into the shifter. It would be nice to have everything to put it back together right away. :-) Basically where does the white wire from the solenoid end up? Is there a specific part name for it?
