945 Sunroof - how to get headliner panel out when sunroof won't "vent 900

My 93 945 sunroof is cocked, driver's corner in vent position, passenger's corner below roof level.
So I can get to the spring in one corner that releases the headliner panel, but not the other one. When I try the power switch, the motor will move the vented corner back down, then nothing; the passenger corner stays below the roof level, as though it's ready to retract rearward,

How the heck do I get the sunroof headliner panel out so I can check the drive cables and tracks?????

Here's hoping the duct tape will keep most of our summer rains out of the headliner & interior.

Help .....
