1990 240 question on codes 113 and 232 - ck engine light 200 1990

Volvo will idle great then throw codes 113 and 232 and run rough. After a short rest it idles fine. This is the car I've had a problem with spontaneously dying. When I look at the codes I see possible reasons for 113 as O2 wiring fault and for 232 high fuel pressure or leaking injector. I've pulled the hose from the fuel pressure regulator. I haven't seen wetness but can smell a fuel smell. When I put a vacuum on that regulator connection it seems like I can hear the diaphragm move properly. When I blow into the hose I only get resistance. Two things:
1. not sure how to fully test the fpr
2. not sure how to proceed on possible O2 wiring fault.

Final point, I have noticed I can smell at the exhaust that the car is running rich.

Appreciate any info you might spare. thx. Mark
