I just removed one of the front seats from my '65 544 so I can make new upholstery and was surprised to see a plywood base, with the coil springs attached to it.
Is this OEM? I checked a seat from a '62, and no plywood. I know they used a wooden framework for the rear seat, but now I'm curious. Has anyone else run into this? I guess now I'll have to worry about rust and termites!
