Volvo brand Cat-back Exhaust Kit - Durability ? 900

Dear Fellow Brickboaders,

Hope you're well. In May, 2014 I installed a Volvo brand cat-back exhaust kit, on a 940 that lives in the US upper northeast (salt belt). The car's underbody is washed several times per winter, to limit salt damage.

I just learned that the cross-axle pipe has "perforated" i.e., system replacement is needed.

This Volvo brand kit (from Tasca) was described as "long life". Should I have expected more than four years of service?

Is there any better alternative?
