If the DMV or state police would be kind enough to look at the VINs on the different cars, they'd be able to confirm that they're.. different cars.

The DMV I went to here in Portland refused to look at the VIN because it's not found on the a-pillar but the state police were happy to do so and our paperwork was sorted that same day.

On a 445, the VIN is stamped into the bracket beneath the radiator. This makes it tricky to read if the radiator is in place. And driving it somewhere for a VIN inspection is tricky if the radiator is not in place. Good times.
