Ac Heater fan troubles,,Any alterations w newer resistors?? 900 1993

Still trying to trace down fault,,Blower motor works Resistor seems to be testing fine ,,,BUT on the fan speed,NOTHING works.1-5 NADA,,I have an extra speed/ac/direction assembly & switched it out & nothing.
IF I could find a working resistor for the 93/940 it seems to be about$90 delivered,Which I dont want to pay on the chance that it would solve the problem.
I can get a a resistor assembly from an 80s chevy for $18 at Autozone..Has anyone tried to modify their 940 this way??
