Faded Paint on Roof of 745 700 1989

I'm looking a buying a 740 wagon with faded paint (or clear coat?) on the roof, but not the hood. Although the roof is dirty, wiping off a sample portion of the roof didn't change the color.

There's no rust of peeling of the clearcoat. However, there are significant areas where the gray paint came off and it's white underneath.

Thoughts about how to repair the faded paint?
