In-tank pump question 200

My daughter's 92 240 gets sluggish when the gas tank gets to half way.

We did some troubleshooting today and did the number 6 to number 4 jumper and confirmed the tank pump runs. But when I unhooked the big fuel line from the tank and did the test again nothing came out of the hard line even though we could hear the pump running.

When we listen through the gas filler we can hear what sounds like fluid in the tank.

Is that likely to be the returning gas or could it be that the in tank rubber hose from the tank pump to the sending unit is bad? The car runs otherwise.
