brake booster conundrum 900 1993

All the parts houses say my '93 945 ABS non-turbo uses a 53-5996 (Cardone) brake booster. But ... the booster I took out is the same as a 5995 for non-ABS cars. I bought two 5996s from different sources and they have the same too-long master cylinder pushrod.

My Volvo mechanic is scratching her head ... "perhaps they were re-built on a Friday or Monday", she said. "Yeah, but both of them?" I said.
