544 Dies 444-544

Hello All,

I have had a problem with my 544 stopping running off and on. I thought it was fuel related. I cleaned the tank fuel lines and put in a new filter, but still have the problem. Today it happened again and I wanted to bump the starter to move the car into a better place, and low in behold the car ran as long as I kept the key in the start position - with the starter running. What do you suppose is the deal with that?

I have a fairly old Crane fireball 7000 ignition. Any idea where the problem lies? Crane? Starter? Switch? Wiring? (the old coil has been removed and the armored cable broken into for the new coil)


Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
