Question on Odometer Repair 1991 Volvo 240 200

Hello,

I replaced the odometer gear. As expected the old gear had a few places worn out. I made sure the area was blown for any debris.

When I drive the car after replacement, travel odometer would move to a full number at the last digit. Then nothing happens.

I re-opened the area, reseated the gear and drive again. The same result.

I had no problem like this when I did odometer repair on other 240.

Now I am suspecting perhaps motor is the problem. (difficult to replace motor?) If you have any opinion on this, I would appreciate it. May be the new gear is not a good one? It seems to fit well and spins well with other gears.

Thanks.
