946 ECU in a 249

Hi,

I'm in the market for a spare ECU suitable for my daughter's 89 LH2.4 244.

I'd like a 951, but I'm finding more 946's and at a better price. I believe they were used in latter years of the 740 and 940, both LH2.4, but many sellers claim they will work fine in 89 to 93 240's.

Is that correct, or should I wait for a 951. Do both of them bypass the CSV ?
