Our '89 744 Turbo had houndstooth upholstery that looked quite nice.

How about Alcantara?

After we drove our '96 855R for a while, the leather seats in a new loaner that we got from out dealer felt positively crappy.

Volvo sometimes had custom fabric made. Our '12 XC70 has a cloth material that they had developed for them, it is similar to wet suit material.

I read that Volvo has not been in the air bag recalls because they wanted a softer material than is found in the recalled bags.
