Totaled my 242 200 1980

My '80 242DL was rear-ended while at a stop light. VW was going 40-45 MPH. Pushed me into the SUV in front of me. I came out with just a scratch but the car was totaled. No glass broken & door opened w/no problem.

Now am looking for a replacement. There's another '80 242DL for sale not far from me. Claims 24K miles & 1 owner, and a well-maintained '83 244 with the B23 & M46 & 56K mis. Haven't looked at either but would like any opinions before starting search. Guess the only major difference would be the engines, the B21F vs, the B23. Assuming both cars are in the same condition which one would you pick? I always had at least one Volvo since 1962. I value opinions on this forum very much. Thanks.
