Many thanks for all of your suggestions and input. I was able to find and buy an used shaft, and it has since been installed and now functions with no problems.

Planetman: I’m glad you mentioned the clause about breaking the left-right axle rule with no complications! The seller had said that the shaft should fit either side, so I wouldn’t want to be left wondering if the replacement axle would give me problems later on if it had originally been pulled from the opposite side of the donor 122.
