S70 owner here, asking for a buddy w/o computer access right now...he owns a '66 1800 with a 4 speed, with 2nd and 3rd gears noisy...was told a rebuild/replacement is in order...is he better off...rebuilding existing box?...replacing box entirely with a known good used unit?...likely hard to do, he tells me that one year has a lot of year specific parts?...or...is there a later Volvo gearbox that could be retrofitted??
