92 Volvo 245 Steering shudder at slow speed, near full turn ?

"I have noticed a vibration when touching the pump, it is a considerably stronger vibration in the problematic 92 than in my good running 93. So I may be onto something, the 93 vibrates but is much less."

Changing to Mobil 1 synthetic could possibly cure this. Worth a shot anyway.

"I can probably do 3 or 4 ATF changes of the PS reservoir. How long should I drive it between changes or can I just cycle from lock to lock to bleed the system."

Don't know of any hard, fast rule here. Goal is to fully circulate the fluid to expedite removing the old fluid. Every time you empty and replace the fluid in the reservoir the closer you are getting to 100% new fluid. When I did it on my 850 I would drive for a few days and do it again. Repeated 2 or 3 times. Seemed pretty clean after that. Sounds like you might have a time constraint so maybe just lock to lock? Whatever works for you. Me, I'm sold on Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in the PS system and tranny. Did the conversion in my 95 850 and wish I had done it on my 90 240 (had to replace rack in that car). Saved me an 850 rack replacement! When I sold the 850 at 250K+ it had its original tranny, rack and PS pump.
