Assuring the oil level is right certainly cant hurt...and Al has given good info also...when the shaft is turning, so is the eccentric on it, therefore generating hydraulic pressure, and if OD likes to self-engage, there's a chance that it might do this when in reverse...deadly to the OD...you should check and understand/sort this issue ASAP.
