Alternator upgrade and charging question 444-544

Hi,

QUESTION 1:I was complaining about a squealing belt, and discovered that my alternator bracket was not attached properly, which will be fixed.

Now, instead of the little charging light coming on at low idle as usual, he power in general regardless of the charging light seems to want to fade out at idle (ie power out and stall). No issues driving. What would cause this? I'm going to check my battery, which may be really low, but could it also be the generator?

QUESTION 2: Using this as an opportunity, I going to focus on an alternator upgrade.

My understanding is that there are two options:
1. IPD adaptor kit for Bosch AL77X
2. SW-EM adaptor kit for AC Delco Alternator (style 10 or 12SI. Presumably 10SI too?)

Prices look about the same.

My question:
1. Does anyone know where to get a good rebuilt Bosch AL77X Alterator? Anyone have one for sale?

2. Please excuse my ignorance, but regarding the AC Delco, are ALL Style 10/12SIs the same physical dimensions (ie fit adaptor perfectly) or are the specific ones that fit?

2a. Also, what if I find a Delco alternator more powerful than 55w. Any issues?

Thanks so much for any help!
Chris
