brake light on 900

My 940 brake lights are on permanently. Everything was fine until i took out the booster to re crimp it as it was leaking at the join.
Put back together now rear light stuck on.
The brake switch is at full length adjustment, the pedal doesn't come back enough to touch the switch its like the whole pedal box needs to go forward, maybe i need to take of the internal insulation on the inside as this could be preventing the booster pulling back, can you adjust the pedal shaft from the booster to make it longer or maybe the switch is stuffed. If i put my finger on the switch and push the end back in the lights will turn off. Looks like a need a longer switch or the pedal needs somehow come back more.any ideas
