AW70 Automatic Transmission Overhaul? 200 1988

1988 244DL normally aspirated about 300k (odometer doesn't work), AW70 tranmsission with overdrive, neglected by prior owner, but I've done work to get it running like new (see prior posts). The transmission works fine, ie smooth shifting without slipping or revving.

In the spring, I'm going to take a transmission class. We won't rebuild transmissions, but we can change clutches on manuals and swap transmissions. I'm wondering if it would make sense for me to replace the torque converter and, since I recently had to replace all leaking fron oil seals, the rear main oil seal. Does this make sense, or would a new torque converter damage the elderly AW70?

What are good brands and sources for torque converters?

Is there anything else I could replace, such as the kick-down cable?

Thanks!
