White Smoke from Exhaust Worse in Park at 2,000 rpm 200 1988

Simplistic -- but, general rules of thumb.

1) blue smoke on acceleration - burning oil, maybe rings, maybe clogged pcv, combo of both.

2) blue smoke on start-up and/or deceleration - valve guides/seals

3) black/grey smoke on acceleration - too rich - something's amiss with engine control systems/fuel injection

4) "White" smoke - well, no such thing as white 'smoke' -- but steam appears as white 'smoke'. Steam -- coolant is getting into a combustion chamber. If antifreeze is being used, you can almost always smell it.
