White Smoke from Exhaust Worse in Park at 2,000 rpm 200 1988

I had an 89 740,,a few years ago..very good MPG 34 on trips,,250,000 miles,BUT one cold morning 10 degrees,I started it drove 2 blks left it idling,,got coffee came out & the needle was far in the red!!!
Drove it a few blocks home,,needle returned to normal,,so I went to autozone Igot a $12 bottle of block seal,,,i think it was,,next morning I did everything according to directions...emptied coolant flushed the block.used the block seal.ran for 15 minutes.stopped ran for 1 hour stopped, then took spark plugs out & let it sit overnihgt,,then refilled w coolant &i think thats what the directonswere.. I then drove it for another 30,000 miles till I was given another 745 turbo for free!.Wish I had a bigger yard to have saved that wagon,,,
