K-jet to carb. swap 200

I'd appreciate any tips & advice on replacing the K-jet system with a carburetor on my'79 244DL, which is a 2.1 litre 4 cyl. I know a Weber is a popular choice, but are there other brands that will work as well? And if I use a Weber, which model is best? Would an electric choke be the best? Also, which intake manifold? Is there a mechanical fuel-pump that will mount to the engine? Any & all input will be welcome.Thanks
