Transmission and engine not connecting in 4th gear.

What model Volvo we talking about ? Since you changed your transmission fluid, you need to clean the screen as the new fluid detergent will loosen old funk in the transmission. You can also check the wire going to the solenoid for voltage. Have someone feel the solenoid for clicking while pushing to overdrive button On and Off. The wire might be shorting out of disconnected.
