the old dome(interior) light switch trick 200 1992

hi sages(po or rich and powerful)- 245 is on the verge of turning old and cranky with small ailments and 1F jobs. cant get dome light to switch on with the ceiling switch. switch has 3 positions: full off, door only and manual switch on for reading bently while sitting on a dark and rainy night on tobacco rd. door light goes on when door is opened. full off works. but 3d position of switch does not turn the light on which it used to. figure bulb is ok or door switch position wouldn't light it. also isn't door switch a separate circuit? bently and Haynes no help. looked in owners manual manual and it says to pull down switch assembly insert small flat screwdriver in little slot on left side of plastic cover lens and push in retainer latch and pull down assembly for inspection (wear, cockroachs, bullet holes etc.) . wondering if im missing something or if late 240s eliminated the full on circuit.. would appreciate a pearl of wisdom from my sage bruthas. thanks tons oldduke
