1992 240 gl sedan m47 transmition. how to disconect backup switch?

The reverse light switch is located on the transmission. Its screwed into the left side of the shift cover.

The switch passes power directly to the reverse lights and does not have a relay.

The 2 wires from the switch are routed through the shifter hole, under the carpet and should go to a connector behind the right side of the center console.
