B230FD head with Pulse Air 900

I'm looking to replace the cylinder head in my car (1994 940 NA, B230FD engine) with a recently reconditioned unit I pulled off a donor car. Noticed that whoever rebuilt it was sloppy enough not to replace the gaskets on the pulse air ports (pictured) and applied some kind of sealing compound instead on top of the old gaskets. There are cracks in the compound (and some pieces are missing) which to me shows it wasn't a great idea. I'm going to order a new set of gaskets from Volvo (P/N 271776) but was wondering whether some kind of sealing would also need to be applied, besides the gaskets. The aluminum surface where the gaskets fit had a few minor scratches (maybe someone tried to scrape the gaskets and left the marks)... Also it seems that the threads on one of the coolant sensors need redoing (the sensor was loose and had what appeared to be Teflon tape on the threads). Hope I'll be OK retapping the threads and putting some ox-gard compound as recommended in the FAQ. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
