I did wrap the bottom steering colum U-joint may be 20 years ago on the 1982. Still holding but it should probably be refreshed.

I lubricated the joint with synthetic oil, took a chunk of grease and filled each side of the cross.

I took a stripe of polythene film long enough to wrap 3 layers around the joint, attached each end with plastic ties and cut excess film leaving enough so the ties wont slip out.

It did work for me and I should do the top U-joint before problems show up. And both joints on the 1991 also.

Hard to reach bottom joint. I do not remember how I did it. I should try something like this:

- Lubricate and add chunk of grease

- Turn steering all the way to the right, fix somhehow the polythene film,

- Have someone turn the steering wheel the other way many turns, and put plastic ties.

What do you think of this method ?
