M40 speedo parts & bypassing neutral safety switch 140-160

I've posted a few questions on here since getting my 1973 145, and everyone has been very helpful, so thank you for that.

It's been a slow process gathering all the parts to swap out the BW35 for an M40. I have ALMOST everything. We've got two tasks to complete: speedo and bypass the neutral safety switch.

My car came on a trailer in boxes and pieces. I found the BW35 speedo cable and gear, but I don't have any kind of retainer or housing that threads into the tranny. My M40 came with no speedo components at all, so I don't totally know what I need to get the whole thing put together. Any insight anyone has on the parts I should be looking to score for the speedo would be greatly appreciated. For example, can I use anything off the other M trannies?

I read on here that if I splice the two blue wires on the old auto tranny harness together it will bypass the neutral safety. Does that sound accurate?
