--> Revving the engine without an AMM telling the fuel ECU how much fuel to put in could be the cause of shutdown. For idle purposes it may be just sufficient to use default fuel map to let the engine run. But when you stepped on the gas pedal more unmetered air gets in so engine died.

Another thing that could cause shutdown is overheated spark module/ignition module/amplifier. This especially when the white heat conducting paste have been long dried out. Reapply new heat paste. Its the same white zinc oxide heat paste used in audio amplifiers and some electronics. Radio Shack or similar electronic stores have this. This module is located within front engine compartment, fender side, near the battery. The module is used in cars with Bosch system such as your turbo.
