the old buzzing signal flasher trick- how to restore sudden loss of left/right directionals

hi sages- directional signals suddenly stopped after a period of buzzing sound from center dash. sounds like signal flasher went stinko. hope dashboard doesn't have to be disassembled. bet dealer wants $1k to replace $5 part. need to fix fast as don't like to drive w/o signals at night on thunder road. would tip off coppers. need a sage to set me on the right steps. thanks tons oldduke
